At Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, we know a thing or two about putting on beautiful winery weddings…just ask Brides Magazine who recently named us one of 2017’s Best Wedding Venues! That’s why we love to share tips and tricks for brides-to-be here on the Pippin Hill blog. Today’s topic? The case for booking a Friday/ Sunday wedding ceremony.
You’ve most likely spent years finding the right spouse, and months finding the perfect venue for your big day. Choose a day that works for you! While Saturdays are a great time to have your ceremony, having your wedding another day can be just as successful. Premium Saturdays are often fully booked up to 18 months in advance, but a Friday/Sunday night means you have a much better chance of getting a “yes” for your first choice date.
Here are a few of our favorite reasons to choose a Friday/ Sunday wedding date:
Extra Time with Loved Ones
A Friday wedding gives you the rest of the weekend to celebrate with those who traveled near and far to be with you, instead of packing up your bags the next day to jet off on your honeymoon. Conversely, a Sunday wedding gives you all day Saturday to spend with your guests. By freeing up at least one day of the weekend, your guests will be more appreciative of the extra time, especially if they are traveling to attend your big day.
Rehearsal dinner venues such as restaurants have much shorter lead-time for booking on weeknights (check out our sister property Red Pump Kitchen on the Downtown Mall to learn about hosting your rehearsal dinner or late-night party). For Sunday weddings, consider making Saturday an all-day celebration! Your guests can’t possibly see Charlottesville in just a weekend – but freeing up a day will give you a chance to share your favorite spots with them, from Monticello to Skyline Drive (and maybe some wineries in between!).
A Better Deal
The special package rates that most vendors offer on non-Saturday dates mean you’ll save money. Our venue fee at Pippin Hill Farm is reduced for Friday/Sunday weddings, and catering minimums are less. Your savings could translate into having more of your wedding budget to spend on that honeymoon upgrade or a first house down payment. Can you tell we love planning ahead?
Wedding venues aren’t the only thing to book up quickly on Saturdays; vendors do too. Photographers, designers, caterers, florists, musicians, or bands—if you want your first pick of all the pros who are integral to making your perfect day, then aim for Friday/Sundays. You might even score a better rate as well!
No matter what day of the week you choose, your wedding will be unforgettable
