Twenty-three wineries from the Monticello Wine Trail, including Pippin Hill, competed in the 2017 Monticello Wine Cup Competition. This competition highlights the best wines of the Monticello American Viticultural Area. Pippin Hill received three medals this year for our world class wines.

Pippin Hill’s 2015 Chardonnay Reserve received a gold medal, while the 2015 Sauvignon Blanc and 2014 Petit Verdot won silver medals.

Of the gold medal winners, the Top 3 Red and Top 3 White wines, one will be awarded the highest honor of  Monticello Wine Cup Winner. The winner will be named the highest-ranking wine in the area and will be announced live at the Monticello Wine Cup Awards. Guests at the award ceremony will be allowed to taste each gold and silver medal winning wine.

The awards are open to the public and will take place on Thursday, April 13th at 6pm at the Jefferson Theater in downtown Charlottesville. The ceremony marks the start of the 2017 Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Festival, which runs from April 13th to April 15th. Tickets are available as an individual purchase or as part of the 3-day festival pass; this pass gives guests access to winemaker pairings, tours, and the grand tasting at the Sprint Pavilion.
