With new wine apps launching daily, from individual wineries to massive retail databases, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with all the options. So, we’ve whittled the list down for you to include four of our personal favorites.
Whether you’re perusing the aisles of the wine store, in need of a food and wine pairing for your dinner party, or on the lookout for local wine events — there’s an app for that.
Delectable is a free app that recognizes a bottle of wine from a photo of the label. After searching the database and identifying the wine, the app provides details on the winemaker, reviews, and tasting notes all with the touch of a button. The app also allows you to tag friends, add locations, and keep a journal of your own wine tasting experiences.
The best part? Order wine right from your phone and have it delivered to your doorstep. Sounds like heaven to us!
2. Wine Events
Looking for a service that lists local wine events in your area? Check out Wine Events! This app displays wine, food, beer and spirit events based on your location. With over 1,500 new events added to its database each week, you will be gallivanting around to tasting events in no time!
The app also features exclusive ticket offerings with guaranteed admission to specific events. Share the app with your friends, and check in to each event for added incentives!
3. Wine Wherever
Featuring over 2,000 wineries, Wine Wherever lets you search wineries based on location. The ideal option for the traveling wine enthusiast, the app narrows down the list to highlight a selection of must-see wineries. The app showcases wineries in California, Washington, Oregon, New York, Texas, and is rapidly expanding to other locations as well. In each search, directions and contact information is provided, as well as coupons, tasting etiquette and tips.
Now we just need to get Virginia on the list!
4. Pair It – Food and Wine Pairings
A small fee, with great benefits. Pair It is one of our favorites! You no longer need to tear out the pages of your Bon Appetit Magazine to guide you in your food and wine pairing decisions. This is a fun and comprehensive food and wine guide to make pairing decisions on the go.
Pair It features more than 20,000 wine pairing suggestions from renowned wine pairing expert, chef, and educator Bruce Riezenman. Save your favorite pairings and keep notes for future references. There’s even a pronunciation guide for when you encounter wines like Txakoli and Berger Zweigelt.
