Is gardening one of your New Year’s Resolutions?
Start early, with one of Diane Burn’s Pro-Gardening Tips on how to grow greens through the winter:
“Want home grown greens on your New Year’s Day menu? It’s simple to do in Central Virginia! You can direct sow collard greens seeds from late August – mid-September. Ideally 6 weeks before 1st frost which is usually the end of October here in Charlottesville. Use floating row covers to protect from hard frost & freezes and you will be able to harvest collard greens all the way through the winter. Greens also include kale, arugula, spinach, swiss chard red mustard, turnip and beet greens.”
We are open 11am-6pm 12/31, 1/2, & 1/3 but we will be closed on New Year’s Day.
We are looking forward to your visit, and wish a Happy New Year to you and yours!
