Spring into the season with Pippin Hill Farm’s new agritourism series! On Tuesday, June 26th, 2018, we’re hosting our first agritourism workshop. The Cut Flower Workshop includes a behind-the-scenes look into Pippin Hill’s flower farming, instruction from our Certified Horticulturist Diane Burns and special guest, Jenny Hopkins of Big Arms Farm, and a farm-to-table luncheon.
Our Certified Horticulturist Diane Burns will kick off the workshop with a guided tour through our flower beds and Kitchen Garden. Diane will show guests how she plants and grows our wide variety of produce and flowers. Diane is currently expanding her flower beds and planting new varieties in anticipation of this event!
Next, we’ll gather on the Reserve Room Veranda for a hands-on workshop led by Jenny Hopkins from Big Arms Farm. Jenny is a regular at our Featured Farmer Fridays series on the Veranda, where she brings dozens of her local, sustainable flowers for her signature “make your own bouquets.” Jenny will give guests tips on harvesting flowers, post-harvesting handling, and the basics of creating casual, farm-style arrangements. Each participant will make their very own farm-fresh floral arrangement.
After the workshop, we’ll bring our new arrangements into the Reserve Room to star as our centerpieces for a farm-to-table luncheon. Executive Chef Ian Rynecki will highlight vegetables from our Kitchen Garden in each dish. In addition, our vineyard manager Brooks Hoover will pour the wine options and provide guests with an overview of the viticulture initiatives at Pippin Hill.
Each guest will take home their cut floral arrangement. This event is happening rain or shine.
