Out of the 22 wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail that competed in the 2018 Monticello Cup Wine Competition, Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards took home a gold medal for our 2017 Sauvignon Blanc. Our Sauvignon Blanc grapes rest at the top of the hill next to our Granary and are a staple of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain view from our Veranda.
This dry white wine is our best yet with bright hints of tangerine, Meyer lemon, and ginger on the nose, white peach and grapefruit on the tongue, finishing with minerality and acidity. To balance the acidity of the Sav Blanc, Chef Ian recommends pairing it with one of our signature seafood dishes like our friend oysters or scallops. The buttery wine cuts through the fatty seafood flavors for a truly excellent pairing. Our English pea and goat cheese dip would also compliment the citrus flavors in our Sauvignon Blanc.
