Fortunately, you can buy and take home our incredible reds, whites and sparkling wines to savor Pippin Hill wherever you are. Pippin Hill Farm is in its fifth year and our wine program is evolving all the time. As we continue this process, we are proud to source all of our grapes from our own estate, Albemarle and surrounding counties from some of Virginia’s finest vineyards.
Our Cabernet Franc offers notes of sour cherry, pomegranate and black pepper with hints of herbal tones and baking spice. Light tannins and body make this a versatile red.
Our Meritage Reserve shows its foundation in Petit Verdot with dark, brooding fruit framed by tannins of a Merlot that are softened by extended maturation in barrel. On the nose, notes of black cherry and tobacco prepare your palate for blackberry jam with hints of graphite and vanilla on the finish. Although it’s delectable now, our Meritage will age well in the cellar.
Our Champagne style Sparkling Rosé features both floral and fruity characteristics on the nose. . .dogwood, honeysuckle, and strawberry. . . with hints of raspberry, tart cherry, and honey on the palate. Perfect for enjoying in the Spring and Summer months!
Our popular Red Pump is even better this year, with the addition of Tannat. This gives it that earthy nose which transcends to the deep black cherry and vanilla on the palate. The finish is slightly oaky with a nice light acidity and light tannins. We suggest serving this at room temp or slightly chilled at a backyard barbecue.
This Rosé is both floral and fruity in the aromatics, like a basket of strawberries garnished with dogwood blossom and honeysuckle. The plush palate of raspberries gives way to tart sour cherries, with a touch of honey. Our Rosé is neither sweet nor dry and that makes it perfect for the spring and summer months.
Our Port is rich with balanced sweetness featuring dark chocolate, cherry and sweet tobacco characteristics that come from the interaction of the oak and the brandy used for fortification. Bin 21 is easily the perfect wine for sitting by the fire on a cold winter’s night.
We take a classical approach to this varietal, highlighting the black cherry and clove aromatics while working to both preserve and tame the substantial tannins and acidity this varietal is known for. From the extended maceration of the skins to the long barrel aging, we have found this vintage boasts fig and Cassis flavors leading to a long and spicy finish that is permeated with medium to high tannins.
Our Merlot Reserve features a soft nose of chocolate and butterscotch. The palate gives way to tart blueberries and cedar while the tannins and minerality on the finish play like the conversation that you’re supposed to be having across the table.
Our 2014 Petit Verdot contains an even higher percentage of estate fruit, and, don’t mind if we boast, the quality of our vineyard really shines. The result is layered aromatically with black cherry and cedar, a concentrated mid palate with notes of plum, black cherry and tobacco, and then finishes with persistent tannins reminiscent of raw leather.

Our Sparkling Blanc de Blanc offers delicious aromas of yeast, vanilla, citrus and light toast leading to layered and creamy flavors of lemon, caramelized pear and golden apple. The finish is lean and zesty making these bubbles turn any occasion into a celebration. This will be perfect as an aperitif and even better with seafood after sitting down at the table.
We take our inspiration for our Chardonnay Reserve from Burgundy winemaking techniques. Aged 11 months in oak, 43% of that being new French oak, the result is a wine with complex aromas of honeydew, lemongrass and freshly zested orange. While there are fruit flavors of sun-warmed honeydew and Meyer lemon we also find a touch of warm brioche and a comforting finish of freshly caramelized crème brulee. The clean, lingering finish offers medium oak, and light to medium acidity. . . . .it is a perfect food pairing wine.
With its distinctive, vivid aromas and zesty acidity, Sauvignon Blanc is easy to peg in a blind tasting of dry white wines. Our Sauvignon Blanc is bright with hints of citrus, jasmine and honeysuckle on the nose, harboring flavors of tart green apple and grapefruit on the tongue and finishing with a light acidity. Resting at the top of the hill on our estate, this wine is a beautiful expression of our land.
With its light nose and notes of lemon grass and pear, our Viognier immediately makes you say “ahhhh” when opened. Delightful to sip or pair with food, this wine has the nuance of nectarine and apricot on the palate making it slightly sweet and delicious. This Viognier finishes softly with hints of pear and a light minerality that rounds it out nicely.
Zero White is fruity and complex with clementine, apricot, and a touch of jasmine on the nose. Mid palate, we have found grapefruit and tart green apples leading to a mellow finish of meyer lemon and banana. This wine is elegant and soft which makes it perfect for the beach, garden parties, or your back porch.
Our 2016 Chardonnay offers aromas of butter and vanilla with hints of oak that extend to the palate. A balanced acidity and integrated oak notes complement the yellow apple and Asian pear that linger on the palate. This Chardonnay finishes with a medium acidity which makes it a wonderful pairing wine or one to enjoy on its own.
Petit Manseng is a French varietal grape the we harvest late in the season to allow residual sugars to reach higher levels. Fermented in stainless and new oak barrels, it has a complex and soft balanced taste.
